Good Morning everyone! In 1777 Captain James Cook discovers a large uninhabited coral atoll and names it Christmas Island. Just north of the equator the 322 square km atoll sits in the Pacific Ocean about halfway between Sydney and San Francisco. Today about 5,000 people live on Christmas Island which has the most forward time zone, UTC+14, of any inhabited place in the world - so the residents there are always the first to see in the New Year … (or open their Chrissie pressies ... quick kids ... start swimming. ) Just want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year - Sian Wilsons Prom 18 Partly cloudy Wonthaggi 20 Partly cloudy.
