Good Morning heres a WTSA news update The region’s utilities are cleaning up the last few power outages related to last nights storms. Green mountain power reported outages in Newfane, Rockingham, Putney and Westminster last night. Public service of New Hampshire reported scattered outages in the Monadnock region, and a handful of problems remain early this morning in Jaffery. The Vermont Drug task force has arrested a pair of Brattleboro residents as part of their ongoing investigation of drug sale activity in the region. 40 year old George Onuoha, of Brattleboro,was cited on four counts of sale of crack cocaine .Onuoha is being held without bail. 54 year old Linda Brooks, of Brattleboro, was charged with aiding in the commission of felony sales of crack cocaine, and was released until a court date. Arraignments are scheduled August 12. A Vernon man is facing multiple charges for allegedly operating under suspension, and then allegedly providing a false identity to police. 22 year old Shawn D. Bristol was ordered to appear at the Vermont Superior Court: Criminal Division at a later date. The New Hampshire Insurance Department today will discuss possible changes to how it decides whether insurance policies cover enough doctors and other health care providers. The states network adequacy standards have been in the spotlight since the department approved Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shields narrow network for individual health plans sold through the Affordable Care Act. More companies will be offering plans next year. The Insurance Departments Network Adequacy Working Group will meet on Thursday to discuss potential changes. The goal is to have new standards in effect by next spring so they can be applied to 2016 insurance policies. New Hampshire police are warning residents of a phone scam where callers are portraying themselves as employees of the Internal Revenue Service and demanding money. The caller provided detailed instructions advising the couple to withdraw cash and to then purchase gift cards/green dot cards. Police said a convenience store clerk cautioned the elderly couple that the purchase of such a large number of gift cards/green dot cards was more than likely a scam. The couple ended up suffering no monetary loss. Vermont Congressman Peter Welch is hailing passage by the U.S. House of two amendments designed to enhance college affordability. One amendment allows high school students participating in dual enrollment programs to earn college credit in the competency based learning program in the underlying bill. The second creates a task force to review higher education regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Education to see whether any can be eliminated.
