Good Morning my good people, For those of you who thought I was - TopicsExpress

Good Morning my good people, For those of you who thought I was crazy, well, here I am giving you a chance to finalize it. I might have spoken about this to few of you already, maybe 3 years ago, or sometime recently, and today, I post it. As a start - have you guys heard about Danny Wallace? or his Join Me collective? If you dont know, the gist is - Danny gave a join me ad in the local newspaper, which incidentally ended up being a huge collective of people who do RAOK. Lets say my idea is very similar to that, and an Indian version of it is what I am thinking of right now. Coming to my story - Ripple, as few of you might know, was started about 3 years ago, with a wish to see a better, brighter and happier world, by doing random acts of kindness. And Ripple too started with no big dreams of what it would turn out to be, just that it started with a very good intention. It was much later, after Ripple was started, I chanced upon Danny Wallaces book in my office library, and felt overwhelmed. I realised Join me was very much in line with what I expected out of Ripple. The world needed rippling effect of goodness, for whichever side you may tilt, crane, peep – there are always issues in the world that needs solving. People die of accidents every day, children get abandoned, environment is getting destroyed, we litter and let our cities stink, communal riots, abuse, corruption – is there any negativity that has become non-existent today? No. But you know what... Despite all this, there is plenty of love and goodness still very much present, then why not compound it? I do not intend to write a big post, but this is what it is - Unlike join me - Ripple doesnt do RAOK every Friday, we are taking it easy, and doing it every quarter. We are doing it with people we live with, or work with. With people who want to do something, but dont know how to. With people, who feel equally embarrassed talking about spreading love, or making a difference. With people who get a high when they watch Rang De Basanti or Yuva (or even ZNMD, I mean why should we get high only on serious life altering movies?). We dont want this to be a serious business, we want it out of love, and have some fun in the process. To give you an example: currently, Ripple at Chennai, is supporting a home for abandoned kids - we run with them and play with them, we take them to beach, we watch movies with them, we get toys, and we also support their studies. We are having our ups and downs as a group, to be honest, it is not easy having a service group, but we want to anyway... It would be 3 years for Ripple this 23rd November, and we want to see if you are also interested to join us. Not literally of course, you can form your own groups - with friends, family or colleagues. You can do whatever form of kindness act that you want to, with anyone you want to. If you want to know more about us, or how we work, or join us (LITERALLY) - that also works. If you would like to read - here is a post on Ripples journey (sulakshanabadri.wordpress/2014/07/02/today-is-a-very-special-day-ripple/) I also think it would be great, if we can rub our inspirations onto each other. If you said an yes to this, we would like you to join our FB page (https://facebook/pages/Finding-Meaning/1408409616114350), share your experiences, or pictures, or even videos of what you did. Trust me, they are worth such joy. If you find something inspiring - say like this - https://youtube/watch?v=bJtWA2n2C6I - share that too. If a stranger was kind to you, you can even share that story in our page. We like the smile on our faces, why dont we pass them around. If you dont have an FB account, but you want to be a part of it, you can mail me, or our official mail id is - reachripple@gmail with your stories, we would be happy to post it on your behalf. Like Mother Teresa says, we dont have to look for big things, just do small things with great love. It might not take much of our time and money, but to someone, it will mean the world. I want to end the post with Dannys words: “Doing these acts of kindness is the same mentality as doing a prank, because you need to get over that embarrassment barrier and treat it like a joke. The vast majority of society want to do something nice, but are afraid to. It’s this weird social barrier where you might see someone struggling with some heavy shopping but you won’t go and help them, because they’re going to think you’re mental. Join Me! has become an excuse to do something nice. Everyone always says you shouldn’t need an excuse, but you know, bollocks, sometimes you do.” I would love it, if you take your time, and think about it. Because, we all can be that difference. I would love it better, if we start our own Ripple collective. Then again, the probability that we may fall in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just; it shall not deter me. Here is a bit of info about Dannys Join me - howtomakeadifference.net/2008/04/danny-wallace/ Be well folks, and lets try and be that change. Love n light, SB
