Good Morning with the contract start date fast approaching Saturday 6th September please make sure you read through the general move in information The official move in day for 2014 will be Saturday 6th September, which is the start date of the licence agreement. As you will appreciate the move in day can be extremely busy, therefore if you could spend five minutes to read this information sheet it will make the process much quicker. Please make sure you know what flat you’re moving into, for example Flat H14, is Block H, Floor 1, Bedroom 4. You must pay of paid the first rent instalment in advance of your arrival to make your move in much quicker, enabling you to ‘fast track’ the system when you arrive. Please telephone +44(0)151 706 7530 to make an advance payment by credit/debit card. The move in team will be available from 8.30am to 5pm on the move in day. If you are planning to arrive outside of these times you must inform us in writing or telephone with your move in date and time and rent must be paid prior to your arrival. Before Your Arrival Make sure you have read the licence agreement along with any other information we have sent you; we also regularly update our facebook and twitter pages with updates. Collecting Your Keys Keys WILL NOT be issued until the Licence Agreement has been signed/accepted and returned and the first rent instalment has been paid in full. If you have paid by bank transfer please notify our office in advance so we can verify the money being received. The payment dates can not be changed to be the same as a student loan. Keys are only issued to the person named on the licence agreement, please have photo I.D with you when collecting keys. On Your Arrival Day All students should collect their keys at Agnes Jones House, 1A Catharine Street, Liverpool, L8 7JZ. There is ample parking available at the front of Agnes Jones House; also, the back gates will be open for easy access. Parking will be free on move in days only, after which parking permits will need to be purchased from the reception office at Agnes Jones House; prices are displayed on the website and on posters in and around the building. Location Agnes Jones House is ideally located next to Liverpool’s Universities and the city centre, making this a great place to stay during your studies in Liverpool. If you do encounter any problems the staff at Agnes Jones House are available to help, with night time emergency assistance onsite. Internet Connections The internet supplier is Student Com; an information sheet is included in the welcome pack. Internet is included in your rent; if you have any problems with the internet you should contact Student.Com directly on 03331230112. Meeting New Friends We appreciate that on move in days, things can be both busy and stressful. Please allow yourself plenty of time for your journey and be prepared for lots of people, hustle and bustle. Finally bear in mind that there are lots of other people who dont know anyone so don’t be afraid to approach people and say hello. Quick Reference Agnes Jones House - Arrivals September 2014 Do I need to bring my own bedding, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans? Yes, these items are not provided. Alternatively bring a few items with you and then split the cost of what you need with your other flatmates. Office Opening Hours The Lettings Office is open Monday to Friday from 8.00am - 5pm. Move In Times You may move in between 8.30am - 5:00 pm on the Saturday that your contract starts. All licence agreements commence on Saturday 6th September 2014. Duty Students When the office is closed, Duty Students are available to offer assistance in emergencies. The Duty Student can provide assistance with lost keys, tripped electric and water leaks. The Duty Students also act as fire marshals. They can be contacted on 07972 568667 and should only be contacted in emergencies and out of office hours. Insurance—Endsleigh Please keep the leaflet you get with the welcome pack when you move into your room in a safe place and READ it to ensure you have sufficient cover for your possessions. If you require additional cover for high value items it is your responsibility to organise it BEFORE you arrive. Please note that if you leave your flat door unlocked your insurance may be void if you need to make a claim. If you do not have a policy document spare copies are available from the office. Registering With a Doctor We advise all students to register with a local GP to ensure that assistance will be provided in the event of an emergency, details of the nearest Student Health centre are detailed in the student handbook. Launderette The launderette is situated on the ground floor, adjacent to the reception area. It costs £2.00 to wash and £0.20 for 10minutes dry cycle. The launderette is open 24 hours a day for all Agnes Jones residents to use. You are advised to stay with your laundry to ensure no items go missing. Nearest Train Station The nearest train station is Lime Street Station. National rail enquiries 08457 484950 Nearest Bus Stop The nearest bus stop is opposite Agnes Jones House. Most campuses are in walking distance. The bus numbers 86 and 86A goes to ASDA. Bikes There are bicycle racks in the car park and court yard. These are available on a first come first serve basis. Bicycles must not be left in bedrooms or flat corridors as they may cause an obstruction in the event of an evacuation. Car park A public car park is available at the front of the main building. Various permits are available to purchase during office hours. A permit for the year costs £360 for Agnes Jones House students. Details and prices of other permits are displayed on the notice boards around the site. Cleaning The communal areas, bathroom, kitchen and hallway are cleaned by the in-house cleaning team on a set day each week, details of this can be found on the noticeboard of each flat kitchen. Each flat is provided with a vacuum. Residents are responsible for removing rubbish, maintaining a standard in between the flat cleans and for keeping their bedrooms clean and tidy. Regular inspections are done, fines are issued to flats who do not comply with the cleaning standards, and full details can be found in the Student Handbook. Television Licence Every student who brings a television with them is responsible for purchasing a licence. You can apply online, over the phone or at the post office. Council Tax If you are a full time student you will be exempt from paying council tax. Your faculty office will provide you with a letter of exemption which should then be handed into the Lettings Office. Otherwise you will be personally liable for council tax. Exemption certificates must be handed in within one month of your arrival. I want to arrive early - what should I do? If it is possible for you to move in earlier a few days earlier than your contract starts if we have availability, you must contact the office and apply for an early arrival. However, if your room is not ready you cannot move in until the start date stated on your contract. You must pay your first terms rent plus additional costs for the extra days/weeks with an early arrival. I have moved in and realised something is missing/not working - what should I do? Report problems as soon as possible, all rooms come with a detailed inventory which you will be asked to fill in and return within 72 hours of moving in. If you do not agree with the details listed notify the office. The room/flat will be checked and a revised inventory issues. If you do not report variances then it will be assumed that the inventory is correct and you may be charged for damages. Maintenance Issues Any maintenance issues (no hot water, power failure, breakages etc) should be reported at the main office and a maintenance form completed. Please report any issues as soon as possible so they can be quickly resolved.
