Good afternoon Folks Happy Easter to everyone hope your 4 day weekend is going well. This evening is a video which shows the life of Severe Tropical Cyclone Ita as it developed over the soloman islands pushed to the west becoming an impressive and intense category 5 (noting the well defined eye which was a pinhole eye for most of its life as a cat 5) before making landfall at Cape Flattery not as a category 5 or even a 4 but most likely a 3 based on lowest pressure readings and highest wind recorded by the AWS at Cape Flattery although the weather station failed as TC Ita continued to Cross the coast. As mentioned above Ita did have a pinhole eye which is a good characteristic of very intense tropical cyclones and Ita was no exception most probably more intense than Yasi at some stage but much much smaller in size to Yasi in comparison. However this pinhole eye characteristic also given Itas relatively small size made the cyclone susceptible to big fluctuations in intensity as seen how quickly Ita weakened prior to landfall and how quickly the cyclone intensified from a category 3 to a category 5.
