Good afternoon everyone, today the City of Dunwoody Police Department apprehended a suspect who was involved in a hit and run collision that had occurred on 13 June 2014. The suspect ran the red light at Cotillion Drive and North Shallowford Road and struck a City of Dunwoody Police Unit. After striking the police unit, the suspect fled the scene before the officer could get out of his vehicle. The officer involved in the collision did not suffer any injuries even though every air bag in his police unit had been deployed. The suspect vehicle was later located at a nearby Chamblee apartment complex. During the course of the investigation the registered owner of the suspect vehicle attempted to report the vehicle stolen. However, she recanted her statement and cooperated with the investigation giving officers the suspect’s name. It was determined that the suspect was on felony probation in DeKalb County. After contacting the DeKalb probation office and notifying the suspect’s probation officer of the situation, they arranged to have the suspect report in today. When the suspect came into the probation office, City of Dunwoody Police Officers were on hand to take him into custody without incident. You may run, you may hide, but we will find you. JT
