Good am everyone!! DAY -5 on the countdown to my bone marrow - TopicsExpress

Good am everyone!! DAY -5 on the countdown to my bone marrow transplant. Getting 2 different chemos again today. Cytoxan and Fludarabine. The focus right now is not to kill cancer although it will kill cells but rather to wipe out my immune system and prepare my body for transplant. Soon, in addition to chemo I will be getting other medications to suppress my immune system. The goal is that when my sister’s marrow marrow enters my body that my body DOESNT fight her marrow. When it does it is called Graf vs Host Disease. Doctors expect a little fighting (GVHD) but they don’t want a big fight. My sister’s marrow must settle in and win. I keep joking with my nurses that maybe I’ll get a new faster metabolism!! Wouldn’t that be exciting. haha. I think I’m the only cancer patient here still counting carbs and trying to walk so much… but they also have me on hormones to make protect me and not throw me into menopause. (amen to that!) Between hormone shots and fluids, I feel so puffy… If I could have a boot camp in the lobby to feel better I would do it. I’m already starting to feel nauseous and not myself and I just started but this too is expected. I am used to this. Oh by the way.. get ready to start the 100 Day Challenge… after chemo I just skipped taking the elevator and walked 4 flights of stairs #ArmorUp and after I finish this IV antibiotics i’m headed out on walk. My goal 4 miles. My transplant FB friends are probably laughing going — “oh yeah go ahead and enjoy all this energy you have now before you just want to sleep all day.” True… that’s why i’m trying to get it all in now:) Bank my miles! Thanks to all the posts, text, calls and most importantly PRAYERS!!
