Full reviews of all selections can be found at footynags BENALLA One Inch Punch (3rd, $1.20) Was backed as if unbeatable and had every possible hope in the run, looked the winner 200m out but just whacked away over the concluding stages. Overall a disappointing effort. Godspiel (1st, $1.80 TOP FLUC) Very promising mare. She went back as usual, hooked wide on the bend and unleashed a powerful sprint to go past them like they were standing still. It was not an amzing race but the way she won suggests she is well and truly up to city class. Samer Drive (2nd, $1.70) Sat 3 deep with no cover from the wide gate, hit the front early in the straight but the tough run took its toll and she was swallowed up late. Sumakaray (1st,$4.47 BEST TOTE PLUS) She is a very smart mare this one. Kicked up along the fence to hold a good spot on the speed, got into the clear and was very strong late to grab the victory. Trialled superbly going into this, hopefully she is over her injury concerns and can go on and have a very good spring. BAIRNSDALE Courageous Gypsy (1st, $3.94 BEST TOTE PLUS) Went straight to the front after jumping well, was pressured most of the trip but still found a good kick in the straight to go away and win easily. Was a weak field but she did a really nice job winning. Chalumeau (1st, $6 TOP FLUC) Given the run of the race from Symons, was able to peel out coming to the turn and was just far too strong for them over the concluding stages. Maconsilia (3rd, $1.70) Sat 2nd, looked to be cruising on the becn but lacked a turn of foot and found the 2 swoopers too strong for him late. He battled on ok but he does just grind away. Transfer Allowance (3rd, $2.30) Cost itself victory by bombing the start. Raced a long way back, hooked very wide around the bend and ran on strongly to be a close up 3rd. Follow next time, looks to have nice ability. Pro Tour (2nd, $1.80) Given a very nice run just behind the leaders, was under pressure trying to chase on the bend, took forever to hit top gear but when he did he rattled home to just miss. Stick with him, he has a stack of ability. Clear For Action (3rd, $3.10) Had the run of the race, got clear around the bend and ran on solidly enough to just hold 3rd on the line. The Bronx (1st, $4.80 TOP FLUC) Got a great run in behind the front runner, got the split on the bend and was just far too strong late for them.
