Good day once again! At our Mid-week service yesterday, we were enlightened on the benefits of Meditating on the word of God. Pst. Godman Akinlabi set the ball rolling as he showed us how and why meditation is important concerning our Christian walk. Here’s a little of what he said: Meditation talks about going over an issue in thought. When this is done continuously, we arrive at plausible solutions that can take weeks, months or even years! Joshua 1:8 says, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful”. How many scriptures do you know? This is not for you to quote scripture from memory but to know it from your heart. Understand that as a believer, before you can make your way prosperous & have good success, you must align your habits to the word of God. If you know what has been written concerning you, it is enough raw material for God to use & bring to remembrance when you need it. By positioning yourself in the word of God, you receive the right mind & heart to receive grace. Also, a righteous man doesn’t sin because he is ‘a Christian’ or that he speaks ‘Christianese’; it is because he meditates on the word of God continuously and has stored it up in his heart. This is because meditation changes your posture in the spirit & alters your perception of your world view either positively or negatively. For example, a man can break free from poverty when he decides to focus & speak the word until his situation changes. This transformation happens because the real ‘anointing’ is the word. In Job 1:1-7, we see God’s trusted servant Job, lose everything because he made some sacrifices to God out of fear that his children would sin against God, not because he wanted to please or worship God. When we entertain fear, it becomes our world view and is blown to such a proportion that our mind begins to believe what fear has said. So ask yourself, ‘what is the most prevailing thought on my mind today? Is it one of fear, happiness, health, honour, or hate? Whatever the situation, you will need to gather scripture that you can meditate on consistently. Here’s why: 1. Meditation helps you when you are in a tough situation or you need the word of God to encourage another person. 2. Meditation conditions your heart to receive from God (Philippians 4:6): Praying & meditation are the same as they have the effect in the spirit. When we fret and are anxious, faith cannot move. However, the peace of God comes when I meditate the word of a God. 3. Meditation changes your action & attitude: meditation is supposed to bring about a release of grace. Meditation opens the eyes of our spirit. You will start to see & do things differently & you will be empowered to prosper. 4. It leads to conception: many people are not able to get the fruit of the scripture because we are not able to stand on the word. Digging deeper into the word will lead you to what can be said to be ‘Scriptural engineering’. Make up your mind today to be like most goats & cows - they are ruminants & chew the chord. Why dont u chew the word of God daily?! We hope you have enjoyed our recap today. For this and other resource materials please follow @TECResourceCentre for more information! Stay blessed. #Inhale
