Good evening Dragoon families and friends, we had a big day today graduating both Bravo and Echo Companies this morning. We started at 9:00 a.m. with the Bulldogs and then transitioned the theater before commencing with the Eagle graduation at 11:00 a.m. It was standing-room only during both graduations and I think everyone was very excited to finally see their Soldiers walk across the stage. The two companies conduct their ceremonies in a similar manner with a few small variations on the theme, but they are still unique every time they do one. Please wish the new graduates luck in their future endeavors as they leave us and move on with the next chapter in their Army careers. And now with the update: Alpha Company (Week 2): Alpha Rock executed Day 2 of their three-day First Aid training. Everything is on track and we fully expect to see all of them pass their exams tomorrow and become officially Combat Life Saver certified. Charlie Company (Week 3): The Comanches have had a very busy day today. They started off with a 4 kilometer (2.5 miles) foot march in full combat equipment before transitioning to some work in the classroom. After the foot march they went to Kelly Hall and got instruction on how to navigate with a map and compass through the woods. This afternoon they’ve been out at a local training site putting their new knowledge to the test—working in buddy teams finding different points in the woods using only the navigational tools we’ve provided for them. Later tonight, we’ll send them out again to find points with a map and compass in the dark. I expect that they will learn quite a bit from this experience. Again, it’s been quite a day and I am happy to have been able to participate in the excitement as Soldiers and families took part in this memorable occasion.
