Good evening. This day has been one of reflection for me, not - TopicsExpress

Good evening. This day has been one of reflection for me, not just of my situation, but of events unfolding in the world. The police shootings, parents killing their own children, and the word out of OK is that the man accused of beheading the woman at his job was trying to convert co-workers to Islam. How does one keep a positive attitude in a world filled with some much negativity. Divine intervention or alien invasion may be the only way to save us from ourselves. I just finished digesting a post from a friend who works for the 700 club. In the thread, its Christians talking about killing Muslims in the name of our God. Jesus had the power to end everyone who staked Him to the cross, but did not. I do not believe we should lay our collective heads upon a block to be lopped off by some butcher from ISIS, but who really wins a Holy War? Surely not God and more importantly, its the human race that loses. Every shade in the rainbow of humanity wears the blood stained taint of hate. A lot has happened in the two weeks and a day that I have been off from my job in the media. There is a dark undercurrent in the news that pours in from across the country and around the world. Its no wonder that a lot of people are burying themselves in selfies, phone games, and silly videos. In the view thats coming into focus for me, it seems that its really an escape from the evil that seems to lurk outside our doors. We need to to shed these 21st century blinders and get down to the business of actually helping others and not ourselves? Seeing no evil does not make it disappear. It will take real courage to find a way to rise above this. The silent majority of good people in this country and in the world for that matter, need to find their voice and scream at the top of their lungs: ENOUGH!!! How do you fight an enemy who believes killing you is a path to paradise? Can we convince people that their view of God is not the only perspective given from on high? What will you do to actually make this a better world to live in? These are questions I am wrestling with and pray for some insight to find an answer to help the human race. As the human race, it seems were running around in the same circles that have really led us down a path were no one will survive. Im going to commit myself to an earnest search for answers, but will begin with real activities that will make the community I now call home, a better place to live. I may not be able to heal the world, but I am in control of my own feelings and actions towards others. In my view, apathy is the instrument that will be the featured instrument in the swan song for mankind if we do not get it together. It is back to work for me in the morning and all I have to do to fend off the negativity thats dogged me all day is to think of the great time I had with my daughters last night, raising money to help people with physical challenges get custom bikes or trikes to overcome those challenges. It may not be worthy of a Nobel Prize, but it is a noble endeavor that will make the lives of someone less fortunate, a little better. That, and my girls, make me smile and that is all the positivity I need. I love each and everyone of you dearly and thank you all for your love, prayers, and support. ()
