Good evening, UK Evening Forecast – 29th May Synoptic - TopicsExpress

Good evening, UK Evening Forecast – 29th May Synoptic situation: High pressure remains in situ over the north of Scandinavia whilst pressure is also rising across northern Britain. Meanwhile low pressure remains the dominant feature across much of mainland Europe with associated weather fronts now pushing away towards the southwest. Tonight’s outlook: This evening will be cloudy across much of England and Wales with scattered heavy, thundery showers across parts of central, southern and south-western England as well as into parts of south Wales and down towards the Channel Islands. Elsewhere any outbreaks of rain and drizzle are generally light in nature, although the odd sharp shower is also possible over the Midlands. The best of the evening sunny spells can be found across northern and eastern Scotland, including the Northern Isles, but it is cloudier over southern and western Scotland, along with the Western Isles, and Northern Ireland. Some late sunshine is also breaking through across southeast England. Tonight sees those showers becoming increasingly confined to southwest England, south Wales and the Channel Islands where the odd heavy downpour remains possible. For the rest of England, including the Isle of Wight and Isle of Man, along with Wales there will continue to be a lot of cloud around with some mist patches forming, and there could still be some spots of light rain or drizzle in places, especially over the hills. Somewhat clearer skies may well move into eastern and north-eastern parts of England during the night. Meanwhile across Scotland and Northern Ireland a mostly dry night is expected with any evening spots of rain over Northern Ireland dying out. Somewhat clearer skies will develop across much of Scotland with a few mist patches forming in places later in the night. For much of the country moderate east/north-easterly will tend to ease overnight, but they will remain stronger towards the southwest of England. Temperatures over England, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight, the Isle of Man, Wales and Northern Ireland will drop down to minimums of 9°C to 11°C, but across Scotland minimums of 6°C to 8°C are more likely with some sheltered inland glens dropping back to 3°C or 4°C. Tomorrow’s summary: Apart from the risk of further showers across southwest England, Wales and the Channel Islands, much of the country will be dry with variable amounts of cloud and some sunny spells, the best of these around the coast. Temperatures will be a touch warmer. Tomorrow’s full forecast will be with you in the morning. Have a good evening. Paul
