Good evening, all. As of this evening, True Grit - Military Inspired Obstacle Challenge and Obstacle Course Racing Association of Australia are still in discussions on a set penalty for failed obstacles. As mentioned in the threads below, the confirmation email for registration does state that the event is fun and it will be. This is, however, a National Titles race and we are endeavouring to set a reasonable standardised system that is fair to all racers, no matter which category you race in. The main points of discussion in relation to a penalty is racer fatigue, extreme conditions during the evening, staffing and volunteer presence. We are tossing up a few options and we are looking at a possible 10 burpee penalty. There will be some mandatory obstacles. Every obstacle must be attempted. There will be no touch-and-pass system in place. What separates it from other races is that it is a National Title, meaning that it is exempt from the standard Obstacle Course Racing League 30-burpee penalty. As per the OCRL Handbook for members (all states), any reports of technical infringement (cheating) or misconduct will go to the OCRA Disciplinary Panel for review and can result in disqualification from the race, a loss of competition prizes and/or expulsion as a member of the OCRA. We value the training and preparation that our athletes are putting towards one of the biggest races here in Australia and will take every report seriously. So, its as clear as mud. You will be briefed on final penalty on the day. Please be ready and close to the Presentation Stage for a 1pm briefing. #obstacleenduro #truegrit #aussietitles #ocra
