Good evening fellow Jeepers, A while back the idea was floated - TopicsExpress

Good evening fellow Jeepers, A while back the idea was floated of a camp weekend at Coomalie Creek, at the Darwin Community Church campgrounds We have tentatively booked the grounds for the nights of 26 and 27 September, being Friday and Saturday, and home on Sunday 28th. The campground has some electricity points but you will need a long lead. There is a well set camp kitchen and a walk-in coldroom is also available for use. The camp has full amenities with hot showers. The area is well grassed for camping. Sites are $10 per night, per person, and dogs under control are welcome. To get there you take the Batchelor turn off the Stuart Highway, then turn left immediately before the railway line, and its a couple of km down that road. A few of us have camped at the grounds before and found it to be a really good little area, very quiet (apart from the odd train!!) Some photos have been posted, so have a look to get an idea. And yes, the photos do show a Landcruiser, it was the weekend for leaving the Jeep at home. The area is suitable for caravans, campervans and tents. There is a creek for fishing, and fireban permitting, a rather large campfire area. For more information, go to darwincommunitychurch.org.au and click on the Coomalie Creek PDF. No firm plans are in place as far as activities go, or even if people want to camp one night or both nights, or just visit for a day. If anyone has any ideas/preferences for things to do, put your hand up and make it known. Or maybe everyone is happy just to sit around and veg out? I know I would be. If at all possible I would like to confirm numbers with the caretakers by 14 September, so please if you would like to attend let me know by then, or at the next Jeep day on 13 September. Lyn and I are actually heading away in a few days for a week in the dirt (Landcruiser again), but Andy has all the details and he knows what is and isnt available, Im sure hed be happy to answer any questions. Hopefully we can get a good turn-out for our first Jeep weekend, and enjoy the last of the dry season weather together as a group. Gayle
