Good evening from the Maravich Center: Vanderbilt vs. LSU LSU (10-5, 1-2 SEC) and Vanderbilt (9-6, 1-2 SEC) are looking to get back to .500 in SEC play and about an hour away from tip time at the Maravich Center. This opens a stretch a four of five games at home. Last time out, the Tigers were handed an 88-74 overtime loss at Ole Miss whereas Vanderbilt scored a 78-75 win over Missouri. In last season’s meeting, LSU emerged with a 57-56 win which ended a seven-game losing streak to the Commodores. Anthony Hickey turned in a solid all-around effort with 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Tigers. Rod Odom led Vandy with 20 points. The Tigers have Jordan Mickey, Johnny O’Bryant III and Andre Stringer averaging in double figures. Stringer made his first six shots en route to a career-best 23 points, while Shavon Coleman tacked on a season’s best 15 points at Ole Miss. Jarell Martin added 14 points to amass back-to-back double figures scoring efforts for the second time in his career. The Mickey-O’Bryant duo will look to rebound from a combined eight points, but Mickey was able to rack up a career-best seven blocks against the Rebels. Odom nailed six triples and ripped off 24 points during Vanderbilt’s victory over Missouri. His season averages are 13.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Kyle Fuller also chipped in a season-high 22 points for the Commodores in the Missouri win. He has added 11.3 points and 4.2 assists per game. Just a reminder that tonight’s game game is being televised by ESPNU and online at WatchESPN. ESPNU currently has the Purdue-Penn State game so there’s a possibility that tonight’s game may be joined in progress.
