A broad area of low pressure will develop through the interior of the state during the next couple of days and should extend into southeastern Queensland during the weekend. Hot to very hot conditions will also extend from the southern interior to remaining southern, western and central parts during the weekend and should persist into early next week. Forecast for the rest of Thursday Possible showers near the east tropical coast. Some showers and gusty thunderstorms over the southeastern and southern interior east of about Quilpie, clearing during the evening. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh at times over the tropics. Friday 24 October Some showers and gusty storms developing over the southern and southeastern interior, particularly about the ranges. Possible showers near the east tropical coast, mostly during the morning. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. A hot day through the southern and southeastern interior with moderate northerly winds. Moderate to fresh southeast to northeasterly winds over northern parts. Light winds elsewhere, tending fresh northerly along the far southern coast. Fire Danger - Very High over much of the interior, reaching Severe over the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders district. Saturday 25 October Unstable conditions will persist over the south of the state with some showers and gusty storms likely, particularly about the southeast inland. A slight chance of showers will persist near the east tropical coast north of Cairns. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will occur over the remainder of the state. Hot to very hot conditions will spread through much of western, central and southern Queensland, particularly inland parts where enhanced fire dangers are also likely. Sunday 26 October Temperatures will increase further through western, central and southern Queensland, leading to enhanced fire dangers. The heat and instability will likely result in some showers and gusty storms over the southeast of the state, particularly inland parts. Instability will spread further through the interior with possible gusty storms, though with little rainfall given the lack of moisture. Fine and sunny conditions are expected elsewhere apart from the slight chance of showers in the very far northern tropics. Monday 27 October Hot to very hot conditions and enhanced fire dangers will continue to affect much of western, central and southern Queensland, particularly the Darling Downs and Maranoa and Warrego districts. Showers and gusty storms remain possible over much of western, central and southern Queensland, particularly through the central interior and southeast inland.
