Good evening to our Dragoon friends and family, it’s been a busy day getting everyone reintegrated and back up to speed after spending time with loved ones back home. Of all of our folks that have finally returned to us here at Fort Leonard Wood, those in Foxtrot Company are the most excited with graduation just right around the corner. Though truth be told, Alpha Company is only one week behind them and they are quite excited as well. Now for the update: Alpha Company (Week 9): Alpha Rock headed out to the range this afternoon to execute Rifle Marksmanship Period 13. This is a day and night live fire exercise where each of the trainees gets the opportunity to engage several targets at various ranges utilizing a number of different tools and optics mounted to their M-4 carbines. Not only will they get to shoot with the M68 Close Combat Optic, but they will also utilize aiming lasers and night vision equipment after it gets dark tonight. It will be a great opportunity to pick up some excellent tactical skills. Bravo Company (Week 5): The Bulldogs had Installation Detail today. The entire company was out raking leaves, picking up trash, and generally making Fort Leonard Wood beautiful. This detail is on a rotational basis and it was Bravo Company’s turn today, but tomorrow they will be right back at training, working on rifle marksmanship. Delta Company (Week 5): Dawg Company was again working within the simulators getting spun up on the M-4 carbine. They are getting back into the proper mindset and building upon the foundation laid before they all went home for HBL. Once they have demonstrated the requisite proficiency, we will be taking them back out to the range again to recommence the live fire portion of their training, marching on toward their individual weapon qualification. Foxtrot Company (Week 10): The Warriors spent their second day of “recovery” cleaning up all of their field gear and preparing for graduation next week. They are really looking forward to finishing up here and moving on to the next phase of their journey with the Army. Everyone have a wonderful evening. Lieutenant Colonel Gries Dragoon 6
