Good evening to our extended Dragoon family, it’s Monday and we - TopicsExpress

Good evening to our extended Dragoon family, it’s Monday and we find ourselves beginning another exciting week of Basic Combat Training here at Fort Leonard Wood. The temperatures have hovered just above freezing but things are supposed to warm up a bit later on this week, making it almost pleasant for our three companies still in training. For Foxtrot Company this is the big week—we will soon be seeing friends and family arriving here to join their loved ones for Family Day and Graduation on Thursday. It will be a day long remembered by all those involved. And now for the update: Alpha Company (Week 10): Alpha Rock rose early this morning, donned heavy packs and equipment and then set off on a 16 kilometer (10 mile) foot march to one of our local training areas. This marks the very beginning of their culminating field training exercise (FTX III). For the next four days they will live out in the woods sleeping on the cold ground, and conducting tactical operations in a mock war. This will test all of the skills each of them has worked so hard to acquire over the last few months. Bravo Company (Week 6): The Bulldogs focused on Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT training). They learned how to operate as members of teams and squads moving tactically in towns and villages. They then transitioned to clearing rooms and buildings before getting tested on attacking entire objectives in build-up areas. Urban areas are challenging environments and the lessons they learned today will pay off big dividends in the future. Delta Company (Week 6): Dawg Company had “Installation Detail” today which had them out making Fort Leonard Wood beautiful. They worked hard today painting, picking up trash and cleaning up common areas. It was their turn today but they will be back out at training first thing tomorrow morning. Foxtrot Company (Week 11): The Warriors had their formal inspections this afternoon. Command Sergeant Major Cunningham and I went through their barracks and looked at each of them in their dress uniforms as they stood by their bunks with all of their equipment and other kit laid out. The company looked really good overall and I anticipate few problems when they have to turn in their field gear tomorrow. Moreover they will be looking very sharp on Thursday when they walk across the stage at Baker Theater. A lot of friends and families will be on the road over the next couple of days in anticipation of Foxtrot Company’s graduation and we hope that you all have a very safe trip coming here to Fort Leonard Wood. The cadre and I look forward to meeting with you and showing you some of the things that they have learned during their short time here. We know you will all be very proud! Have a wonderful evening.
