Good moooooorning my beloved friends. So whaddya think? Do you think Puxhtawney Phil will see his shadow today? Heres a fun daily inspiration to mull over, today, February 2 Groundhog Day An early American reference to Groundhog Day can be found in a diary entry dated February 4, 1841, of Berks County, Pennsylvania, shopkeeper James Morris: Last Tuesday, the 2nd, was Candlemas Day, the day on which, according to the Germans, the Groundhog peeps out of his winter quarters and if he sees his shadow he pops back for another six weeks nap, but if the day be cloudy he remains out, as the weather is to be moderate. There was a festival, Imbolc or St. Brigids Day, which is the seasonal turning point of the Celtic Calendar which was celebrated on February 1 and also involves weather prognostication. The holiday was, and for many still is, a festival of the hearth and home and a celebration of the lengthening days and the early signs of spring. Celebrations often involved hearth fires, special foods, divination or watching for omens, and candles or a bonfire if the weather permitted. How powerful it is to look for signs from nature in support of your direction and celebrate what you see. Reflection: Where do you look for omens or signs from nature to help support your direction? Affirmation: I see the subtle messages of wisdom all around me!
