Good morning. Chris here with your morning update at 6:00am. Big story is the freezing rain this morning. We have seen a dry slot continue to hold East of the Blue Ridge this morning. If you live East of Hwy 64 you have not seen much in the way of precipitation. We have had a moderate band of freezing rain and rain move through though. That has put a thin glaze of ice on cars and elevated surfaces across Southern and Eastern Burke County. Not much but you can feel it if you go to your car. A trained spotter is reporting some slick spots on the back roads North and West of Longview this morning. We have trimmed ice totals down over Greater Burke to .05 to .10 of an inch due to this dry slot. I think most of that will occur as this next heavy band of precipitation swings into the area over the next hour. Very heavy rainfall is to affect the area this afternoon. 2 to 4 inches of rain is forecast at this time. There could be some locally higher amounts but this will be liquid rain for everyone this afternoon and evening. Chris
