Good morning MARKET BASKET family!! Today my youngest turns seventeen. It is causing me to reflect over the past year. A year ago we heard about this problem at MARKET BASKET about the CEO. It made the news but seemed to pass quickly. We all went about our lives. I always shopped at MARKET BASKET. My dad did so I did. I didnt think about how much better the prices were. When they opened the new and improved Salem NH #6 I went there. Not because of prices so much as it was new and shiny and huge!! Also they had new mart carts. I know not all this happened in the last year but I wanted you all to see where Im coming from. Then my h poo use burned down in April and we were forced to live in a hotel on a self pay basis. All of a sudden prices really mattered. Almost 90% of our income was going to basic bills and housing. Not leaving much left over for food. Then MARKET BASKET became really important. My daughter introduced us to a woman who saw what was happening to us and offered us room in her house. At first I didnt want to impose but she insisted. We moved out of the hotel and into her home about the same time as the whole ASD /ATD cane to a boil. You see she is a full timer at MARKET BASKET #42. So in a way I felt like I was on the front lines from the beginning. She and I would talk everyday about this situation. It was great to have another woman to talk to. I asked her what they wanted us the customers to do. She said simply BOYCOTT. So thats what I did. I went to Salem NH #6 that morning and brought munchkins. They were thrilled for this show of support. It was a long expensive summer. I tried to do my part as my dad would have. Wow I am only now stopping to breathe and looking back and all cliches aside I did what I always wanted to do. I helped make history. When you feel down keep that thought in your head.
