Good morning. Some day yesterday huh? Actually its been some week some month and I really insane last two years. Yesterday I decided to stand on principle knowing I little chance to win. I sat in Wells Fargo and was finally asked to leave by the police. The bank promised that I would have the funds today. We will see. I plan on going back again today. Wells Fargo kept telling me that it was bank policy to do what they were doing. They told the police man that what they were doing was bank policy. So the policeman told me the same thing that this was bank policy. I asked the policeman, is the best policy right? He didnt give me his opinion. Then he reiterated that this was the bank policy and that I really could do nothing. I explained I could sit here until they give me my money or until you escort me out. We went back-and-forth for a little while as the manager sat their with a sheepish look on his face because he knew that he would have to be the one ask the policemen to take me out. I felt kind of sorry for the branch manager as I knew he was between a rock and a hard place. But I was trying to make a point... At some point we all have to stand up and say no. Arent you sick and tired of getting stuffed by the man? There is nothing in the Gospel that says we have to submit to unjust Business practices. Yes the Gospel teaches us to turn the other cheek it is talking specifically about human interaction one human to another. Consider this point, a business is a thing. It is not a person. In fact you could compare every business including the one you work for to a washing machine. Businesses have gotten so used to taking advantage of individuals because individuals dont know how to react to businesses. Put it another way. I believe we have all heard this saying. You cant beat City Hall But the fact is this you can. You have to stand. You have to look them in the eye and say no. We must remember that when someone works for a business youre not having a disagreement with that person but with the business. Ask yourself when you went looking for your job with someone there before you? Did someone leave the position that you filled? Will someone fill the position after you leave? Do you have a bag or ID or an employee number? My next sentence may upset you but it is meant to make a point. In most cases your number Is a part number. Thus you are a part in The company here is the sad part. Just like in a washing machine a part number wares out and is easily replaced. Ok let me make my point. Once I began to have a disagreement with Wells Fargo at the beginning of every conversation I explained very simply. I said to every person along the way the same sentence. Here is what I said I know you are personally not Wells Fargo but you are its representative right now. So please do not take any disparaging remarks personally. They are directed at Wells Fargo the company not you personally. so when I say the word you as in you have my money I am speaking about Wells Fargo so please do not think I am in any way angry with you personally. Therefore I was free to be angry and express my frustration tword the company. Remember a company is a thing. Just like a washing machine or refrigerator. We must remember that companies depend on us treating them like they are individuals. Therefore we have gotten used to submitting to them the matter how Im just their policies are because as Christians we dont want to offend. We dont want to look unchristian. But you cannot look unchristian to a refrigerator. You cannot look unchristian to a washing machine. There is no Christian way to treat a washing machine. If a business treats you unjustly make sure you do not allow yourself to fall victim because you want to be humble. To say it another way. As individuals dealing with individuals we should be Christian. But when someone speaks for a company we should not shy away from confrontation because our disagreement is not with that person but with the company and its policies. I would go so far as to say if your company has rules that are prohibitive to you as a person and treats you as a part then we are under no obligation to treat the company any different then the thing it is. Its time we Christians understand that the enemy is using misguided feelings to make us submit to injustice. As for me.... Im going back to the bank today. Jerry
