Good morning...Sometimes what we think is the greatest tragedy in our life turns out to be one of the greatest blessings that we could have ever possibly had. When Dolly Parton was a child, her parents could not afford to buy her a coat for winter. Dolly Parton did not let this bring her down and she kept on believing that the winds of success would someday blow her way and she kept the faith. Later in her life, Dolly would venture into a successful music career, a career that would see her talk through music, of her experiences with poverty as a child. One of my favorite songs by Dolly Parton has to be the song, Coat of many Colours. The song tells of how Partons mother stitched together a coat for her daughter out of rags given to the family. As she sewed, she told her child the biblical story of Joseph and his Coat of Many Colors. The excited child, with patches on her britches and holes in both her shoes, rushed to school, only to find the others laughing and making fun of her for wearing a coat made of rags. She captures our imagination by asserting her positive spirit even with the seeming rejection: And oh I couldnt understand it, for I felt I was rich And I told them of the love my momma sewed in every stitch And I told em all the story momma told me while she sewed And how my coat of many colors was worth more than all their clothes The song concludes with Parton singing the moral of her story: One is only poor, only if they choose to be Now I know we had no money, but I was rich as I could be In my coat of many colors my momma made for me Yep, you are as rich as you can be. It is all in the mind and how you perceive it! I wish you all the best as you start your hustle week.
