Good morning!! This week, I wanted to share a few cleft stories with you, these are friends that I have met BECAUSE of Easton being born with a cleft. So many children are affected!! Here are just a few stories! From Lilis Mom, Kari Jones-Niebaum We were made aware of Lilys cleft at 21 weeks. I am so grateful we knew prior to birth to be fully prepared for what was to lie ahead. We were told at multiple visits with a perinatologist that she was going to be born with a bilateral (under each nostril) cleft lip and palate. When she made her appearance at 35 weeks she surprised us with a cleft lip only. She wore a pre-surgical device called a nasal alveolar molding device. She wore this 24 hours a day, with it taken out for a few minutes to clean, until her surgery at 5.5 months. Surgery was much harder than I anticipated as was recovery. She is now a very happy 22 month old little girl whom I refer to as sassy pants! She has taught me more about life than I have in my 30 years here so far! We love her and her older brother so much and know God sent her to us with a very specific plan! Blessed to get to watch her life unfold in front of me!
