Good morning! What some gorgeous weather, huh!? Wow... As I sit and ponder things, drinking my coffee and listening to the silence, I wanted to share that the past couple of Sunday morning services have been really great! With the new times, and our effort at a blended service format, God has blessed us, and I know He will continue to do that, so long as our efforts are at worshiping Him above all else. I have had folks ask why we changed, thinking it was because some person or people, or a group of influential members, were not happy with our services. And that truly is not why, but I didnt realize until this morning...listening to the silence...just how close they were to hitting the nail on the head. See, when worship services become more about the specifics and details than the very reason we are gathered together, there will be problems! The longer that takes place, the more the problems grow and fester. Now listen, I am not saying that worship services should never take into account the needs and desires of those who are gathered, no no! However, I am proclaiming that if you will simply come to worship the Lord, your needs will be met, and your desires will be satisfied! David and I have prayed, and asked God to show us what to do, how to do, when to do, and all that goes with it. We have both sought counsel for other worship leaders, pastors, and ministry friends, because we truly are trying to put together something those who come will enjoy! But do you know what I heard in the silence this morning? All our efforts at pleasing the congregation are well intended, and genuine efforts, but we must never lose sight that it is all about HIM...not them. When we try to please them more than Him, then He is not happy with our efforts. If He isnt satisfied, boy have we missed it! We are seeking REVIVAL here at McHenry, and can I share with you that we can look high and low, in every nook and cranny around the church, at our homes, and other places...but until we look TO HIM, we arent going to find it! Church, if we can come to that place where we are gathering to praise Him...to worship Him...and HIM ALONE, true revival will break out, and hearts will catch fire for Jesus! It is amazing what you can hear...in the silence! Try it, and let God speak to you! God bless you all the more today!
