Good morning. Yesterday I posted some of the extra things that we would be including on all our ships over the Christmas period including a Menorah Lighting service for our Jewish guests, a Letter To Santa Mailbox and …….carols in the lobby. I saw this morning a post wont that had a pretty strong request (demand) that we should not have caroling or Christmas music. Now I know not everyone celebrates Christmas and I respect that totally of course. But it is Christmas and we do feel that having some of the entertainment staff in the lobby singing songs like Silent Night, Hark The Herald Angels Sing and Oh Holy Night is an essential part of this time of year. The ship’s music system will also play Christmas music . Now I personally think that all piped Muzak is torture. The CIA used it in Guantanamo Bay repeatedly playing Celine Dion tunes 24 hours a day. The terrorists withstood water boarding but after 24 hours of listening to “My Heart Will Go On” they were ready to confess that they did indeed have some C4 explosives in their underpants. But Christmas Muzak takes the suffering to a new level. I love Christmas but even I have to grit my teeth when suddenly and without any health warning Bruce Springsteen starts to tell me that Santa Claus Was Coming To Town. I would rather feed my Gentleman’s sausage through a paper shredder then listen to that.. Anyway, I digress. Starting in early December the ships will feature Christmas music and Christmas movies and a Christmas show that will include the Dreidel Song and I think it will be a show everyone enjoys. As for the crew, well they will be wishing guests a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays which I hope you agree is the right thing to say. Let me know please. cheers
