Good morning Yonkers, if you are taking the day off after Super - TopicsExpress

Good morning Yonkers, if you are taking the day off after Super Bowl Sunday like many of my co-workers did, you are lucky. As of now we have a mixture of rain and snow with the temperature between 34 and 37 degrees, the humidity is 76%, the dew point is 27 degrees, the wind is from the north at 9 MPH making it feel like 27, the barometer is 30.1 inches and rising, and your visibility is 1/2 mile. ***A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM THIS MORNING UNTIL 7 pm THIS EVENING - The advisory is for snow/rain mix and then snow.*** Snow this morning will become heavier at times this afternoon, some sleet may mix in, temps near steady in the low to mid 30s, winds from the north/north-east at 10 to 15 MPH. Snow accumulations are expected in the range of 5 to 8 inches. Tonight mostly to partly cloudy, clearing after midnight, a low of 22 degrees with winds from the north at 5 to 10 MPH. Sun-up occurs at 7:02 AM and descends graciously beyond the Palisades at 5:16 PM. You’ll have 10 hours and 13 minutes of available daylight. Aiken, the county seat of Aiken County, South Carolina it is cloudy and 61/62 degrees. Today will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of a rain shower, high of 71 with winds from the west/south-west at 15 to 25 MPH. Considerable cloudiness tonight with patchy drizzle possible late, a low near 45 with north-east winds at 10 to 20 MPH. Clinton, British Columbia, Canada at 1:59 AM PST it is lightly snowing and 1 to 3 degrees. Generally clear skies overnight, cold a low of -2 with north/north-west winds at 5 to 10 MPH. Tomorrow will see a few passing clouds otherwise generally sunny with a high of 3 degrees with winds from the north/north-west at 5 to 10 MPH. Today 2/3 in HISTORY: 1 - 2005 - Alberto Gonzales became the 1st Hispanic-American United States Attorney General. 2 - 1781 - General Nathaniel Greene crossed the Yadkin River with the possible assistance of Polish engineer Thaddeus Kosciusko. 3 - 1865 - President Abraham Lincoln met with a delegation of Confederate officials at Hampton Roads, Virginia for possible peace agreement. 4 - 1950 - Klaus Fuchs was arrested for passing atomic bomb information to the Soviets. 5 - 1998 - A United States Marine Corps. jet severed a ski lift cable in Cavaleso, Italy killing 20 people, one person survived. 6 - 1924 - President Woodrow Wilson died in Washington, D.C. at the age of 67. 7 - 1959 - Singers Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson were killed when their plane crashed in Iowa. 8 - 1966 - The Union of Soviet Socialists Republic’s Lunik 9 soft landed on the lunar surface. 9 - 1994 - President William Jefferson Clinton ended the trade embargo with Viet Nam. 10 - 1955 - South Vietnamese President Ngo Dinh Diem instituted limited agrarian reforms. The first was a decree governing levels of rent for farmland. 11 - 1970 - The United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee opened hearings on the conduct of the war in Viet Nam. 12 - 1917 - The United States broke off diplomatic relations with Germany prior to the United States entry into World War One. 13 - 1944 - United States troops captured the Marshall Islands. There are weather warnings already in place for Tuesday night through Wednesday for a snow/ice event so stay on top of conditions as they approach. The Super Bowl, in my opinion, was one of the worst I can recall seeing. Seattle played a great game but where was the vaunted Denver Broncos? Peyton Manning as gained a reputation of being a choke artist in big games (though he has one ring) and little brother Eli will always be able to claim he has more rings than his brother. The Jets would have given Seattle more competition! Be careful out there this week, it looks like those six more weeks of winter might hit us hard and Id prefer the bitter cold with all snow than cold with ice mixed. As always be safe and keep smiling!
