Good morning everyone! Time for another installment of Child Rearing Tips from Days of Yore... Unless the weather is stormy, the baby, after it is two or three weeks old, will derive much benefit and health from sleeping outdoors in the daytime between 7 a. m. and 7 p. m. in summer ; and between 9 a. m. and 4 p. m. in winter, after the age of three or four months. In the summer, the baby may be placed in a baby carriage and kept in a shaded spot; in the winter — except when the weather is freezing — the baby may be well wrapped up and placed in its carriage on a side porch. The fact that the mother lives in an apartment house should be no excuse for keeping the baby indoors, for it may be warmly covered and placed in a clothes basket on a fire escape land ing — the basket being securely fastened to the fire escape, and straps placed across the basket to protect the baby from falling out.
