Good morning everyone. Today is going to be quite miserable, - TopicsExpress

Good morning everyone. Today is going to be quite miserable, thanks to a strong wedge that has build into the area. Scattered drizzle and light showers will persist much of the day and through tonight as well. Light showers and drizzle will continue through Tuesday with rain rates/chances going up for Tuesday night and Wednesday. Ive got each day, including severe/flurry chances, broken down below. TODAY: Miserable. Drizzle/showers/fog possible all day. Highs near whatever they are when you read this (probably mid-40s), except for areas north of the ridge-line where some low-50s may sneak in. Not much change temp wise or precip-wise overnight. TUESDAY: Miserable. Highs in the mid/upper-40s with drizzle/showers/fog possible before noon, then showers/drizzle for the afternoon. Rain will move in overnight with some heavier rates likely by morning. Temperatures steady in the mid-40s. WEDNESDAY: A squall line will likely approach the area sometime on Wednesday, bringing a slight chance for a severe storm or two with it. Overall the risk will be quite low, however given the mass travel day that is Christmas Eve, it wont take much to cause problems. The better chances will come the further south you are , and the main threat will be damaging wind gusts (though an isolated tornado cant be completely ruled out). Theres still quite a bit of uncertainty in regards to the exact timing as well as how exactly this plays out, but anticipate wet conditions for any holiday plans you have Wednesday. Highs will climb back to the mid-50s. CHRISTMAS EVE: The big question mark overnight Wednesday is the potential for snow flurries. The models have backed off somewhat with the potential, however I still fully anticipate flakes to be flying across the higher elevations around Blue Ridge/Hiawassee/Suches/Ellijay/Dahlonga/Cleveland/etc. NO ACCUMULATIONS are expected but flurries will bring at least a hint of a white Christmas through the early morning hours. CHRISTMAS DAY: After some early morning clouds and scattered flurries, Christmas Day looks sunny to partly cloudy and dry. Highs wont be very warm, only in the upper-40s/low-50s, but the sun will be a nice change. CHRISTMAS NIGHT: Christmas night will bring clear skies and cold temperatures, with lows in the low/mid-30s, and upper-20s at the higher elevations. FRIDAY: Partly cloudy with highs in the low/mid-50s. Considerable uncertainty exists in the forecast past Thursday so Ill leave it out for now, but Ill be keeping an eye out and keeping you up to date on the latest regarding our severe and flurry threat. Everyone have a great day and stay dry!~TW
