Good morning everyone, We are so excited to get ready for our upcoming March medical / humanitarian mission to Jordan next week. It will begin right after Mothers Day (which is March 21st overseas). That will be our best gift for mothers over there. I would like also to introduce you to our Jordanian ground team . Thanks to them we have a mission every day there. Salaam Board members: working on the ground for the past 3 years providing medical, humanitarian, and psychosocial relief to displaced Syrians. Have volunteered both inside and outside the Zaatari, and are coordinating efforts with other NGOs including Save the Children, Jordanian Womens Union, and local Syrian-led efforts. Helped to establish the Malki-SCM Childrens Center for psychosocial support. Both have been on every SCM medical mission since Jan 2013. 1) Layla Midani, certified pharmacist with over 15 years of experience, and Lead Mission Pharmacist, from Syria. Layla has been to the Atmeh Camp on the Syrian-Turkish border several times as a medical volunteer, as well as to Lebanon to survey the refugee situation and provide help. 2) Reem Atassi, MBA, SCM representative in Jordan and Team Coordinator, managing Childrens Center for psycho-social support, Syrian-American. Salaam Cultural Museum Representatives: 3) Mr. Basil Sawalha, SCM Regional Manager. 4) Mr. Jamal Sawalha, Logistics Coordinator. Jordanian Womens Union (JWU) Representatives: 5) Dr. Aws Shaker, Neurosurgeon, Lead Jordanian Womens Union physician. Dr. Aws has been volunteering with us on all the SCM medical missions. The JWU clinic in Amman treats Syrian and non-Syrian refugees, for free. Dr. Aws has been involved with every SCM medical mission since Jan 2013. Besides that, Dr. Aws organizes his own Free Medical Days to provide medical services to Syrians in remote areas. JWU Clinic in Amman: Dr. Mahmoud and Dr. Rami, both JWU physicians. Physician Volunteers: 6) Dr. Shafic Amer, Psychiatrist with over 15 years experience, and Malki-SCM Childrens Center Supervisor. Was involved with the Nov 2013 and Jan 2014 missions. He will be the Psychiatric Team Leader; from Syria. 7) Dr. Maha Orabi, Ob-Gyn and volunteer at Akleh Hospital. Dr. Maha is an established physician with over 20 years of experience and had her own clinic in Syria but was forced to leave Syria for her own safety. She has volunteered with Salaam during the Nov 2013 and Jan 2014 missions. Humanitarian Volunteers: 8) Susanne Atassi, Syrian-American who was also part of the January mission. 9) Diyaa Oja, Syrian living in Jordan, who has been a part of most of the missions, helping with mission logistics. 10) Nour Khabor, Syrian, working in the Zaatari. She was part of the Jan mission, will help with clinic registration process. 11) Hisham Kukhun, Jordanian medical resident, helping with medical translations.
