Good morning everyone, we need your feedback. Here at ISER we have been crafting our future plans. Below is a preliminary version of the Institutes Mission, Vision and Core Values. If you have any thoughts, comments, or critiques, please feel free to share them with us. This endeavor involves us all. MISSION The mission of the Institute is to develop a transdisciplinary approach to research social ecological systems through engagements with government, academic, civil society and community institutions that lead to participatory processes. Our team will study the interactions and dialectic relationships between the environment and humans in order to develop fruitful partnerships and collaborations with all stakeholders. Through our collaborative partnerships we will build consensus that will allow the Institute to create well-informed stewardship plans, local outreach activities and educational programs VISION The Institute for Socio-Ecological Research will position itself as a leading research, educational and outreach organization in Puerto Rico and in the Caribbean. Our work will aid in the transition from centralized governmental management into community-lead stewardship of natural resources within social ecological systems. We will create and promote a healthier and sustainable way of life, by endorsing a model that is economically viable and oriented towards the preservation of the environment and the empowerment of the local people.
