Weather Situation The monsoon trough extends across southern Cape York Peninsula to a low in the Coral Sea. A trough extends from the northwest of the state into the southern interior. The trough is expected to shift further east over the interior of the state during today and should contract off the far southeast coast during Thursday morning. Forecast for the rest of Wednesday A medium to high chance of showers and storms over the states far north and also in a band stretching from the Gulf Country down to the southeast interior, spreading across to the eastern tropical interior and the southeast coast late in the day. The slight chance of showers about the remainder of the east coast. Fine, mild and sunny over the Channel Country. Moderate to fresh northwest to northeast winds over eastern districts.
