Good morning family and friends. Today is February 3, 2014. “One of the main reasons that we lose our enthusiasm in life is because we become ungrateful.. We let what was once a miracle become common to us. We get so accustomed to His goodness, it becomes a routine..” ― Joel Osteen First off, I wish to say happy birthday to my sister Joni. Not only is she my sister, but she is my closest friend. Love you, Sis! My weekend was a mixed bag, as I had some activities that I wanted to attend, and I did attend some. On Friday night Shannon, the kids, and I went to a Lowell High School basketball you where Addi’s basketball team competed at the halftime of the JV and the varsity games. She was starry-eyed as she saw the high school teams compete, as well as the cheerleading squads perform. The auditorium was loud and cheerful, even though the Red Devils lost both games to the Munster Mustangs. The Red Devil mascot was also a hit with the kids. It was so much fun to see her and her team stare in awe of all the school spirit. It made me imagine what she will be like when she attends high school. Oh how I wish I could see her and Mason in their spiritwear garb... Once again, due to the weather, Addi’s basketball game was canceled on Saturday morning. They sure are going to have a lot of games to make up! She was disappointed that she wasn’t able to play, because she didn’t have enough play time on Friday night -- at least not according to her liking. A five-minute game at halftime was barely enough to get warmed up! I haven’t been feeling the best, to be quite honest. Side effects of radiation are beginning to show their ugly head. I am in discomfort often and quite tired. However, I took a nap on Saturday afternoon so that I could join the girls -- Cindy, Kim, and Kathy -- for a quick dinner, a movie, and a casual birthday celebration. After a stop at Panero Bread, we ventured to the theater to see “Nebraska”. The movie was a slow starter, but it picked up speed and appeal as it progressed. At the end of the movie, all four of us agreed – – we liked it. The evening was still young, so we converged on Kathy’s house for cake and birthday presents. These girls are a hoot! They had me laughing for hours at their crazy shenanigans and memories. By the way, happy birthday Kathy Fenner! Today is your special day, so enjoy! And enjoy your new “Jesus Calling” book and “Into the Wild!” As much as I would’ve loved to have joined some friends at their Super Bowl party, I decided to hold back and just take it easy. I wasn’t in the party mode, so to speak, due to health. I thought I was going to be wrapped up in a close and exciting game loaded with entertaining commercials, but none of that came to past either! Yikes! What a disappointing performance by the Broncos, and what a superb showing by the Seahawks. Regretfully, (because I wanted Peyton Manning to win), there was no competition in this game. But I did love the halftime show with Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers -- a divergence of music, for sure! It just seemed kind of short to me.. What did you think of this year’s Super Bowl? Enjoy this snowless Monday everyone, for that dang groundhog saw his shadow, and we’re doomed with 6 more weeks of winter! More snow on the way for Tuesday... My rose path is buried! Love to all! EXCERPT from “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young: “February 3: I am with you and for you. You face nothing alone – nothing! When you feel anxious, know that you are focusing on the visible world and leaving Me out of the picture. The remedy is simple: Fix your eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. Verbalize your trust in Me, the Living One who sees you always. I will get you safely through this day and all your days. But you can find Me only in the present. Each day is a precious gift from My Father. How ridiculous to grasp the future gifts when today’s is set before you! Receive today’s gift gratefully, unwrapping it tenderly and delve into its depths. As you savor this gift, you find Me.”
