Good morning fbf, That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. Philippians 1:10 The apostle Paul, in his prayer for the Philippian church, makes a direct correlation between love abounding in our lives and our ability to discern that which is excellent. In essence, Pauls prayer for the Philippian church reveals that as our love abounds so does our discernment of right and wrong.These two things must go hand in hand. Love without discernment degrades to sentimentality and sappiness. Discernment without love ends in legalism and self-righteousness. However, when the two are combined in the way Paul prays for the Philippians, then the result is a body of believers who, like Jesus, are full of grace and truth. This is the kind of prayer we need to be praying for the brothers and sisters who make up our local church. And we must earnestly seek to model discerning love in our interactions with those inside the body of Christ and those yet to experience the salvation available in Jesus Christ. Father, may my love abound more and more so that I may approve what is excellent. Love you, be bless, and be safe.
