Good morning folks, It’s another beautiful weekend and I hope - TopicsExpress

Good morning folks, It’s another beautiful weekend and I hope each of you are doing well. We are quite excited about tomorrow’s service! It will be a time of celebrations as we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion, the beginning of another Sunday School year, and the birthdays of those born in the month of September. During service we will have a commissioning service for our Church School educators as well as a blessing for them and the students. Tomorrow’s Scripture passages are Jeremiah 18: 1-11 and Luke 14:25-33. Painting continues to go well. Thanks to Richard, Bill, and Merritt for their hard work to date. If anyone else would like to help with painting, please speak with Richard. Your help would be greatly appreciated as it’s hoped the hall can get done before the Salmon Supper. To date, the two classrooms, the nursery, and the entrance have been painted. May God bless you and yours today and may God bless the congregation as we gather to worship tomorrow. Rev. Wendy can be reached at Office: 450-4031 Home: 206-5031 or Cell: 999-5031. Also, feel free to stop by the church to visit with Wendy or call her to schedule a visit. Food Bank: Please note information on the bulletin board re: an open house, a new clothing “store”, a teaching kitchen, etc. Volunteers needed. Salmon Supper: The supper is on Saturday, Sept. 28. The volunteer poster is up in the narthex. Have a look to see where you might be able to help out. See Tom Henderson or Iain Flint for further information. Thanks. Sunday School: Why not consider teaching/assisting Sunday School part-time or full-time? We are also in need of a Superintendent, supply teachers, & classroom assistants. If you are interested or have any questions, please see Rev. Wendy or Wendy Densmore. Please note there are survey questions going home with the children this morning. Thank you. Next Sunday we will launch this year’s Sunday School mission activity. Music Lessons: Stephen Alexander is offering piano and record/flute lessons for all ages this fall and winter (beginners, intermediate, and advanced levels). Reasonable prices. Speak to Stephen if interested. Stuffing Party: Volunteers will meet here at the church on Tuesday, Sept. 17th (10 a.m. and 7 p.m.) to stuff envelopes for the Fredericton Community Kitchen fall mail-out. All are welcome. We’ll even put on a pot of coffee. We Respond in Syria: The crisis in Syria is severe – More than 2 million are living as refugees in neighbouring countries. Refugee camps are growing with such speed that host states and humanitarian agencies cannot keep up with immediate needs for water, sanitation, food, shelter or health care. Presbyterian World Service & Development (PWS&D) is responding through the ACT Alliance to provide food assistance, shelter, hygiene kits, clothing, and non-essential food items. Please continue to pray for the people of Syria during this time of great uncertainty. By making a donation to PWS&D you will ensure families who have been uprooted from their homes will receive the support they need. You can make a donation through St. James (on your offering envelope, simply note the amount you wish to contribute towards “Syria Relief.”) You can also donate online at https://gifttool/donations/Donate?ID=2034&AID=2463 (there’s a spot where you can designate your donation – simply type in “Syria Relief”) or call 1-800-619-7301 ext. 291. Sept. 8 Mission Moment – Farmers helping farmers improve food security: With support from the Gov’t of Canada, PWS&D is partnering with Western University & Canadian Foodgrains Bank to help 6,000 farming families learn more about sustainable food production. Through this innovative program, farmers struggling to provide enough food for their families will learn from fellow farmers how to protect soils, increase crop production & diversity, & improve their family’s nutrition. Farmers & youth will also develop small food-based businesses to boost their incomes & grow local economies. By responding together, Presbyterians are helping communities help themselves. Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life: This year’s AIDS Walk for Life takes place on Sat., Sept. 21. Next Sunday (Sept. 15) during fellowship time, a table will be set up if you would like to support this walk and AIDS NB. Stephen, our organist, is AIDS NB’s Executive Director and would be happy to share more info on AIDS NB and the Walk itself. All donations will stay in the community to provide services of education, prevention and support to those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
