Good morning, friends. Today is July 30, 2013. “I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot...and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that’s precisely why I succeed.” Michael Jordan Tuesday, July 30, or for me, aka Round #5. Back in the ring I go for another bout with my opponent, Cancer. I found myself dreading the return of Tuesday knowing what the day entails, but I try to shift my mindset to the positive – it is my lifeline. Today is not only a chemo session, but a consultation with my oncology team as to what last week’s CT scan results indicated and what my treatment plan is for the future. The day will be long, for sure, but it will also be productive and informative. I have my notepad filled with questions to ask. I have to mention the heartwarming story that I heard on the news yesterday. There was a pro golfer by the name of Hunter Mayhan that was playing in a big championship over the weekend. He was almost to the end of the tournament and was well in the position to win the whole thing with a million dollars within his reach when his cell phone rang. He stops everything to answer it and was told by his wife on the other end that she had just went into labor with their first child. With cameras rolling, you see Mayhan NOT HESITATE to hang up his clubs and exit the green. He just quit – walked away from winning his first-ever championship and the high-dollar prize money that goes with it. He made a snap decision to be by his wife’s side as she gave birth to their daughter, Zoe Olivia. How cool is that! Now here is a man that has his priorities in order! For one brief moment I put myself in his wife’s shoes and thought what I might say when he came into my hospital room. I smirked when I came up with “What the H!*#! are you doing here – get back on that golf course!”, but in reality, probably not. Life does have it’s priorities, you know... My priority this morning is to get a good cup of coffee on my way to the University of Chicago along with a boston cream donut. My priorities are quite high as you can see! What is on your priority list today? Whatever it is, I hope you accomplish it. Smell a rose on this magnificent Tuesday, my friends. Today’s excerpt from “Jesus Calling” is immensely gratifying to me and hopefully to you. Is there an echo in here? Love to all. EXCERPT from “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young: Worship Me in the beauty of holiness. I created beauty to declare the existence of My holy Being. A magnificent rose, a hauntingly glorious sunset, oceanic splendor – all these things were meant to proclaim My Presence in the world. Most people rush past these proclamations without giving them a second thought. Some people use beauty, especially feminine loveliness, to sell their products. How precious are My children who are awed by nature’s beauty; this opens them up to My holy Presence. Even before you knew Me personally, you responded to My creation with wonder. This is a gift and it carries responsibility with it. Declare My glorious Being to the world. The whole earth is full of My radiant beauty – My Glory!”
