Good morning friends and supporters. One more day and we hit the polls to finish the job we started in December. It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication by many great people to get us where we are now. I feel I have to share again an issue that still will not stop or go away. As recent as last week, a comment published in the Bangor Daily News and a post on Facebook by a person who does not support me, suggested that people will lose jobs and programs will be eliminated for various reasons. Neither of the people who wrote the comments have ever spoken to me about these topics nor would I have shared with them my thoughts as they would be personnel issues. I have said from the beginning that I will evaluate the entire operation and make decisions based on what is best for the people of the county.Let me put this to rest for hopefully the last time. PEOPLE WILL NOT LOSE JOBS as they are union protected and I would not cut community services, IE, the Sheriffs Cup basketball tournament. Remember, I am a cofounder of that event and have been a supporter of programs for the youth of our county my entire career. One would have to wonder why some one would make these type of comments without going to the source as ask. The only job that is not union protected is the Chief Deputy who serves by statute at the will and pleasure of the sheriff. This is a choice that the person who takes that position is aware of and it is not unique to Hancock County. All holding that position in Maine are subject to this statute. I encourage anyone who has a question to contact me on my Facebook page, Scott Kane for Sheriff. Remember, one more day to the vote and a successful end to this campaign. We have ignored all all the negative issues kept a positive campaign going and will continue to do so. Have a great day everyone!
