Good morning idiot society! I have been thoroughly amused this morning reading the internet commentary of very disgruntled Aussies weighing in on the ever growing Burqa debate. Very popular sentiment includes If you want to be oppressed and controlled then move back to your own bloody country!! The irony of this is perfect for my Friday morning. Yes ladies, if you want to be controlled and told what you can and cant wear then leave!! I mean stay!! I mean...BAN THE BURQA!! Another golden comment was Conform to and respect our way of life or f**k off!! So have I been mistaken all these years thinking that OUR way of life in this beautiful country included democratic freedom of religion and expression? Autonomy in our choices on private worship and how we dress? This IS a liberal democratic society right!? Oops...wrong again Desiree. Our brave and fearless leader Abbott has done a brilliant job with his campaign of fear mongering propaganda, stirring up Islamaphobic hysteria among the masses to detract from the shitty economy and budget, or his unprecedented pro-Israeli stand on the international arena, OR his budgy smugglers...which seem to have cut off circulation to his already low capacity brain. Frankly I find his swimwear more confronting and offensive than any woman in a hijab or burqa. None the less, the propaganda is working (Netanyahu would be proud) So let us all bask in the glory of what it means to live in Abbotts Liberal democracy! Freedom of speech! No arbitrary detention! No announced ethnically targeted night raids without proper warrant! Oh..wait a minute, that is all soon to be history in Abbotts specially patented blend of soft fascism and theocracy. And be extra careful if you are an animal rights activist looking to expose the live export trade abuses. Get ready for gag orders and prison time. But Tony!! Dont we export to those same evil burqa pushing, halal eating Muslims countries that we hate?? Whats that? Deficit? No complex manufacturing sector in Aus? We couldnt even keep Ford and Holden afloat?? Aahhh yep yep gotcha buddy! *sleazy Abbott wink* So King Abdallah of Saudi of you!! Ill end with my favourite comment of the morning; Australia was a peaceful and loving country until all them Muslims got here!! Tell that to the native Aborigines of this land lady.
