Good morning my dear friends and loved ones. Hope everyone had an awesome sleep and woke with excitement and gratitude for he gift of this new day. Had a few hours sleep myself last night ---- not as much as I would have liked to have but nonetheless a good sleep. Right arm and the right side of my neck is not as swollen as it was yesterday, as a result from the heparin shot I received. Interesting how neither the emergency room physician nor the medical oncologist would write a prescription for the heparin --- even though I am supposed to have it daily for the next few weeks until the blood clots are dissolved. They kept saying that I have to try to get in to see my family doctor today so he can prescribe the heparin. Fingers crossed he is available. Yesterdays experience at the emergency and with The Cross sure made me realize how deeply flawed the system is at The Cross. The surgeon who removed the port said that clots are a serious side effect of implanting a foreign device into the body and was very surprised that blood thinners were not prescribed or suggested. I have made a point of bringing someone along to these consults with the oncologist and asked Dean if he recalls any such discussion. He said no such discussion or concern was brought up during the consult when the port was discussed. What took place yesterday, along with past experiences at The Cross has given me GRAVE concern about moving forward with any further treatments or program. The lackadaisical attitude and approach at The Cross almost cost me my life. Blood clots are no laughing matter and they sure need to take a look at everything which has happened. Not that I believe that is going to happen.
