Good morning, my wonderful friends. Stan here, reporting for service… When I was a teenager, like Mark Twain, I never thought my daddy knew very much…. But as I got older I was surprised to discover what a remarkably intelligent man my daddy was. I remember he always used Afta by Mennan. Like the rest of my buddies, though, I always tried out all the latest fads of the day for aftershave. After Daddy died, I was in the aftershave section of the local store one day and saw bottles of Afta on the shelf. I bought a bottle just to remember the scent of my father. I was a bit surprised at how little Afta cost in comparison to some of the other brands, but Daddy was always known to be economical. I went home, looked in the mirror and rubbed some of the Afta on my face…. Remembered Daddy doing the same thing so many times. So many memories washed over me. I read the label on the bottle and found that Afta contained lanolin. No wonder it felt so good on my face! Not harsh. My face felt more “manly” already. Buying that bottle of Afta started me thinking about traditions and values, and so many other things that our parents taught us. In this modern age of technology, when everyone is looking for something new and different, maybe they should be looking for good old-fashioned value. Things that are tested and true. Maybe not new, but some things never go out of style. They’re always there waiting for you when you’re ready to grow up and pay attention….kinda’ like that bottle of Afta on the shelf. I use Afta all the time now, just like my Dad. Yep, Daddy was a real smart man… Can you hear me? Am I speaking loud enough?
