Good morning oh passionate Wakefield peeps! After waking up and reading the many posts from last night, I would like to address a point that seems to be getting muddled - Many of us have stated the downtown is shabby, and it looks like business owners are insulted by these comments. Speaking for myself (and Ill loosely say others as I think they are coming from the same place as me) we are stating this about the shabby buildings, the many empty storefronts, and yes the shabby lot that will now remain. There are many beautiful storefronts downtown that shine like diamonds in the rough, RADA, Artichokes, Sabitinos, Duck Walk, Animal Attraction, KidCasso (sp?)to name a few. The time, thought and money you have spent to make your business beautiful both inside and out is much appreciated. Please do not take these comments as insults being hurled your way - SHABBY are the businesses/buildings that do not make the effort and the empty storefronts with FOR RENT signs. Unfortunately they bring down the look of the square, especially for potential incoming business. Just like you would be hesitant to buy a nice home in a lousy neighborhood, these potential businesses think twice before paying rent for a location with a large percentage of empty/shabby storefronts. YOUR HARD WORK is appreciated by many, likely more than you know, so please keep being awesome & as RADA posted last night, hopefully may of the passionate folks will go downtown shopping today - they will be waiting!
