Good morning one and all. We are still counting the money raised from the 80s night and we are well on track to raise more than £1000 from the night. The FODH have and continue to thank all of you that have supported this good cause and a special thanks goes out to all of those who donated items for us to auction/raffle on the night. There was one thing missing from the night and that was the good man himself, Mr Bob Downing. Unfortunately Bob was unable to make the event due to other commitments. He did, however, send us a message of support and for those of you who did not get a chance to read his message on the night here it is in full ......................................................................................................... Sorry I couldn’t be at the fund raiser for Dolly Hall tonight and I’m also sorry that I’m missing out on the opportunity to see many old friends and many of you who I haven’t seen for many years. Many thanks to every single one of you for your willingness to help raise funds for Dolly Hall; it is most sincerely appreciated by me and the Trustees. I know a lot of you will have great childhood memories of Dolly Hall from when you were at school and I hope you don’t still lie awake scared in case Tony is around!! We are immensely grateful for your help with fundraising tonight and your generosity and kindness will help to ensure Dolly Hall will still be there for your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren for generations to come. The Hall is now 146 years old and while she is still in great condition for her age, she is always in need of some repairs, improvements and a lot of T.L.C! In recent years, we have had a total rewire (£12,000) new showers (£9000) new windows (£8500) as well as new furniture, a stainless steel kitchen, ongoing decoration and ground works which we couldn’t have dreamed of paying for without the help of generous people like you. The most important jobs needed at Dolly Hall right now are plastering to the ceiling above the front stairs, some rendering on the outside walls, a new roof on dorm 4 and urgent chimney repairs. Your help with fundraising tonight will be a great help in making sure these jobs can be done as soon as possible to keep Dolly Hall safe and sound. Many thanks again to every one of you.
