Good morning, the word for today is restore - to bring back to or put back into a former or original state. In Isaiah 61:4 the Messiah (we know as Jesus Christ) is anointed to restore places that have been in ruin for a long time – even generations. In Jeremiah, God promises to restore lands, fortunes, health and spiritual loyalty. In Joel, God promises to restore the years that the locusts have eaten (destroyed or “lost” years). God is in the business of restoration! The Holy Spirit is the restoring agent in the life of a believer and is represented in the Bible by water, wind, fire and oil. Water refreshes, wind is used to “blast” away layers of old paint, fire is used to burn land to make way for new growth and often the touch of fine oil make even older wood look alive again. We love a cool drink on a hot day and use lots of oils on our skin in this dry Montana climate so we understand that type of restoration. Yet, even when God uses the seemingly unpleasant qualities of wind and fire in our lives – God continues to be with us! God’s mercies are new every morning – great is God’s faithfulness!! Jesus is Merciful Jesus is merciful and Jesus is kind As you walk through life’s journey.
