We are going to be LIVE from Union County. As of 4:15 this Tuesday morning...a SWAT situation continues in Stallings. It all started at about 10:00 last night at a home on Aurora Boulevard...police say the call came in to them as a home invasion...only to find that a teenager was apparently being held hostage. Its primary election day in North Carolina today...and well be LIVE with plenty of information about todays races. There are many different races on todays ballot...one of the key races is the republican nomination for U.S. Senate. And many of todays winners will basically take office as they face no opposition in November. No matter what your party affiliation...be sure to vote today! Tuesdays primary is the first election since North Carolinas new election law took effect, and members of an advocacy coalition are expected to be out trying to gauge the impact of the changes. Two voter advocacy groups have teamed up to train over 400 volunteers to monitor precincts Tuesday. No tax increase. Thats the bottom line in the budget proposal Charlotte City Manager Ron Carlee presented to City Council last night. However, residential service fees would increase by 1.6%...and public safety employees would receive a 1.5% market increase plus a step increase of 2.5% or 5% (up to top step). Carlees total recommended budget is $2.1 Billion. The Union County Board of Education is expected to appoint a new member at its meeting tonight. An accused rapist, who police say cut off his ankle monitoring bracelet, is back behind bars in the Mecklenburg County jail this morning. And heres an interesting international story...an Israeli archaeologist says hes found the legendary citadel captured by King David in his conquest of Jerusalem. The claim by Eli Shukron joins a string of announcements by Israeli archaeologists saying theyve unearthed palaces of the legendary biblical king, whos revered in Jewish religious tradition for establishing Jerusalem as its central holy city.
