Good news, everyone ..! Hi Saab, Thanks to you, over 175,000 Florida students have the opportunity for a brighter future. Governor Rick Scott signed the Florida in-state tuition bill into law! It’s a sunny day in Florida as it joins 20 other states with tuition equity policies for DREAMers. Earlier this spring over 18,000 ACLU supporters like you signed our petition [OH, MY STARS AND GARTERS! AN ONLINE PETITION!] calling on Governor Scott to put pressure on state legislators in Florida who were stalling the bill. Together, we spoke out on behalf of advancing this long overdue policy for tuition equity. Before this bill passed, Florida was lagging behind -- of the states without a policy for equitable in-state tuition, Florida had far and away the largest immigrant population. In addition to enabling youth to realize their potential, this law promises to reduce high school drop-out rates, improve achievements in education while reducing disparities, and create a more diverse Florida workforce filled with brighter, better educated workers. This will no doubt have a positive effect on Florida’s economy and general vitality. Your support is what helps the ACLU to fight for policies like this one -- and keep making the dream of a country with greater equality a reality. Maria Rodriguez, the Executive Director of Florida Immigrant Coalition called the signing of this bill a truly remarkable achievement and said that it would change the lives of young immigrants. Thank you for being a part of this victory, Anthony for the ACLU Action team https://youtube/watch?v=EfGDvDGE7zk
