Good news for Mumbai: 1) BMC has sent notices to the Aarey Officials to hand over the road under PWD and Aarey Colony, so that the BMC can take it, make it concrete and toll free. BMC has been asking the State Govt. to hand over all the roads of the city to the BMC to avoid the confusion of jurisdictions of BMC, MMRDA, MSRDC, PWD, SRA etc. or to either increase the coordination between these agencies, even as the BMC has taken up 225 of the major roads in Mumbai and 95% work has been done. It is a constant process, but the Aarey Colony road is a mystery as, even with a toll fee charged, the PWD has failed to provide a smooth road and lights. One wonders where the money goes. 2) Mumbai will get additional Water Supply because of the new Middle Vaitarna Dam. The Dam is the 9th fastest made dam in the world, with the BMC funding 50% of it. The BMC is probably the only Municipal Corporation in the country to have made a dam of its own. Completed last year, this dam could not be filled to the brim, as the PWD, that was supposed to demolish an old bridge and make a new one, did not complete its work in time, despite taking funds from the BMC. The Gargai Dam proposal, was only yesterday, cleared from the Environment Ministry, where it was stuck for years and hopefully the Pinjal Dam, too, will be cleared soon. Both these dams, planned to be made by the BMC, keeping in mind Mumbais increasing needs, will add approximately 1525 Million Litres a Day to Mumbais current water supply. Uddhav ji Thackeray hopes to give an impetus to these water projects, along with the Damanganga Project through the Mahayuti government, soon to be formed in the state. Lets talk Development, not politics!
