Good news keeps on coming! First, Billings Gazette endorsed John Lewis, now the Bozeman Daily Chronicle is throwing their support behind our campaign. This is big because John Lewis is the first Democrat in a decade to receive an endorsement from the Bozeman Daily Chronicle. AMAZING!!! Look, , our momentum is soaring! Take a second to read the endorsement below, share it with your friends, and if you can, please chip in to John’s campaign. Thanks, Team Lewis ---------- Lewis best choice for Montanas House seat Editorial Board, October 07, 2014 Montana’s lone House seat represents the most populous congressional district in the nation. That, and its sprawling geography, makes it one hard district to represent. With that, we believe Democrat John Lewis has the experience, temperament and pragmatism to best serve Montanans, and he deserves the support of voters over Republican Ryan Zinke. As a staff member for former Montana Sen. Max Baucus, Lewis knows how things work in D.C. He has traveled the state extensively with and on behalf of Baucus. He is well versed on the issues important to Montana. He has voiced tentative support for a reasonable, bipartisan Senate bill on immigration reform. He supports the Affordable Care Act but has plans for how to amend and improve it. His opposition to federal land transfers to the states reflects what the majority of Montanans want. He has proposed workable platforms on energy, campaign reform, debt reduction and agriculture. And he expresses flexibility on the issues and willingness to compromise. He is thoughtful, intelligent, prepared and well spoken. Zinke has based much of his campaign on his military experience. He deserves our thanks for that service, but he now seems too wedded to the party line to effectively represent all Montanans. Zinke supports abandoning the Affordable Care Act – even though a Democrat in the White House ensures that can’t happen for at least the next couple of years. He says the science on climate change is not settled. He has no realistic plan for dealing with immigration. And he says he would support some experimentation with the transfer of federal lands to the states, something Montanans do not support by a significant majority. Zinke trumpets his military experience, but in the same breath he openly discounts Lewis’ own government service. He also takes lengths to stress that he is older than Lewis, which we find has no relevance to this campaign. Zinke vows that he won’t be influenced by political pressure. That may be true, but we don’t see here a candidate likely to work well with those whose beliefs dont align with his own. Strict ideology has paralyzed Congress so completely that it can’t even perform its most basic functions. And that will only continue until we start sending more moderate candidates to Washington. John Lewis is best choice for Montanans who want to see a change in D.C.
