Good news story. I have been working with a young autistic man at the request of a southern DES provider. At the time I started with him he was on the verge of losing a placement at a local pizza shop. The first thing I noticed about my client was his exceptional analytical mind and very prevalent yet untapped creative ability. I worked with him on self confidence and overwhelm issues, among other things which I will not go into for privacy reasons. A few months ago, when word got out that Specialisterne and Hewlett Packard were looking for applicants for a pilot program in Adelaide, I immediately thought of my client as an ideal candidate and I passed the information onto his case manager. Today I received a call from my client. He informed me that he has secured one of the positions and will be a full time HP employee starting in January 2015. To say that I am immensely proud is an understatement. This job definitely fits his personality and skills far better than making pizzas.
