Sending $10 on Tuesday and grateful for all you do on our behalf, Andrew +++++++++++++++++ Think about how much your fishing gear is worth…… Now what is it worth if they lock up the place you want to fish..?????? For ten bucks a year you have someone to fight on your behalf for your “Freedom to Fish”! If you thought ten bucks a year to be a member of ECOfishers is a bit rich then get a load of what we are up against. Firstly the mobs we always seem to be fighting against (this is apart from governments) • Marine Conservation Society = Minimum $20 per “month” • National Parks Association = $65 per annum or $15 per “month” • Nature Conservation Council = Minimum $10 per “month” • Australian Marine Conservation Society = Minimum $20 per “month” All these green groups membership fees are tax deductible so must be registered as charities.?? Then there is the PEW Group spending untold millions trying to control the oceans. The only thing that gives a lobby/representative group power is money, sad but true. Fishing organisations across Australia are continually getting creamed by green groups because they have prettier websites, slicker advertising and smarter campaigns not to mention government funding. Recreational fishers may have the numbers but we are outgunned when it comes to dollars. Most green groups employ office staff, fund raisers, advertising agencies and PR people whereas most if not all fishing organisations are run by volunteers. Probably the most successful single issue association in the world is the NRA(National Rifleman’s Association) in America. They spent over $88 million on the last two elections alone and yet their annual membership is only $35 but they have the support of the majority of the 80 million gun owners and the firearm industry. Imagine what we could achieve if only we could get just one dollar per annum from every recreational fisher in NSW and a bit more support from the industry. We live in hope…… in the hope you will lend your support and encourage your friends to do the same. We would love to have free membership….. and we are working on that, but for this year…. ECOfishers is holding our membership fee steady this year at $10 for one year. Every member has voting rights. Fishing clubs membership is still $150 pa and that allows that club two votes. What do you get for your $10…???? You get representation at every level of government and the fishing industry. ECOfishers policies are determined by the membership not just by the executive committee. On every major issue we consult you either directly or through the Directors of each zone. ECOfishers has a proven record of standing up for your “Freedom to Fish” We are looking at options to add value to your membership including insurance and finance packages, discounts on boats, motors, tackle, adventure and accommodation packages. To get the sort of deals we are looking at we need numbers. How many…. 50,000 this year would be nice but 100,000 is our target! This is the sort of support needed to guarantee a major say in all fisheries related decisions made in NSW. Give yourself a chance……. Without ECOfishers you are a voice in the wilderness.
