Good video of decreasing ice in the north polar region. It shows the nature of northeast Greenland coastal ice being newer and thinner as it drifts south. In another decade or so it may no longer reach as far south as Ittoqqortoormiit village. This pack ice helps block the mouth of the great Scorsebysound Fjord allowing the winter freeze of the inner fjords to take place. Without it this may not be possible, with disastrous consequences for the local people and their ability to travel, hunt and fish for their families on the winter ice.
